I had to shoot a portrait today of Michael Wilson, a local viola player, for our arts section. I had originally planned to use two lights, but I ended up forgetting them and just had the one I usually keep in my bag. Probably for the best.
An outtake I liked from Missouri’s basketball game against Baylor on Wednesday. After covering basketball for a whole season, it’s getting tougher to find photos I haven’t seen before. A tough challenge, but rewarding when I see something different.
Man, I have really been lucking out with the crazy costumes lately. Casey Peetz climbs out of a makeshift igloo after participating in a snowball fight Feb. 3, 2011 on the Francis Quadrangle at the University of Missouri. About 200 people showed up for the brawl. When asked where she got her penguin costume, she [...]
Uh…I’m a hot dog and I’m wearing pants. So yes? I thought this little scene was funny. Nothing like coming in for halftime and having a giant piece of processed meat staring at you. Creep.
My last frame, of defensive end Aldon Smith, from Missouri’s 14-0 victory against Iowa State in Ames tonight. The victor of the game receives the Telephone Trophy, an award that dates back to 1959 and commemorates that year’s game where the field telephones were accidentally wired so that each team could hear the others conversations. [...]
A few weeks ago, the Trib’s photo editor, Gerik, told me that I was going to shoot the cover photo for the Basketball preview section the paper does each season. You might remember Parker Eshelman’s shot of Aldon Smith for the football section, so I knew this portrait had to be just as bangin’. After [...]
So I’m a little late on this post…I was up for 22 hours straight on Saturday, so give a fella a break. In case you haven’t watched ESPN in the last 15 years, “College GameDay” is quite the production. As a big sports fan, it was a great experience to be so close and to [...]
Fans and players storm Faurot Field following the no. 18 (BCS no. 11) Missouri Tigers’ 36-27 victory against the no. 3 (BCS no. 1) Oklahoma Sooners Oct. 23, 2010 at Faurot Field. I figured this image said it all. There’s a full slideshow with photos from Parker, Gerik and I posted on the Tribune.
We did a story yesterday on the new Children’s Hospital, and we (the press) were lucky enough to follow a couple of kids up to their room. This is 7-year-old Shayden Talbert, who was diagnosed with leukemia in January. The funny thing is, in the room with him are two TV reporters, one hospital PR [...]
A few of my selects from last night’s home opener against McNeese State.
