WTF.
I finally had one of those acid flashbacks I kept hearing about. Though I never thought it’d involve Teletubbies and a guy carrying kitty litter on his bike. Weird.

Social commentary or unintended juxtaposition? I’ll leave that up to you…

Though I am surprised that the feminists in CoMo haven’t had it taken down.
Or at least switched.

Kinda had an eerie feel to it.

The House of Tuck :: Columbia, Mo.
It begins…
Just starting my visual notes…

The front door. Paquin Tower :: Columbia, Mo.
Workshop starts now.
No time for rest.
It’s gonna be a helluva ride.
After school
Had an assignment to shoot at the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia yesterday.
I won’t lie…it was hard. Mostly because my conversations with the 11 and 12-year-olds went something like this…
“Hey, what you takin’ pictures of?”
“The building…the playground, stuff like that.”
“You gonna put these in the paper?”
“Yeah. I work for the paper.”
“Will somebody fix our fence after they see them?…
“Yeah, how about our basketball goal? And the window? That’s broken too…”
I only spent an hour or so with them, but I feel like there is so much more to tell here. So if you find it within you to give to them — your time, your money, whatever — please do.

Four-square.

The fence.

Books are only good if you can read them.

Broken windows, but still having fun.

The playground.
It’s OK, I’m with the band.
So, I’ve been shooting the Lawrence High School marching band whenever I go back home. Last night was their last performance of the season, so I went with them and hung out.
They didn’t win the competition (they won last year) but at least the kids had fun. And they didn’t do too bad, placing fifth overall.
As one girl put it after the show, “I don’t care what the judges think. I felt good about that.”
Anyway, here’s some shots.

The Drum Majors.

Rocking out to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” before leaving for the show.

On the senior bus, heading out for the last time.

Checking out the competition.

Practice. Practice. Practice.
Even up to 10 minutes before.
Eyes for Obama

Shot this while exploring for my single strobe assignment for one of my classes. I’m really trying to learn not just what the hand-held strobe does, but how it works. I guess shooting in manual is the only way to figure that all out.
Not sure if this works or not, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.
