Medicine Bow, sunset

While out on an assignment last week, I drove through Medicine Bow (pop. 244) right around sundown. Here’s a pictorial-ish one I liked.

Sled Doggin’

I meant to post this awhile back. Got caught up with stuff, but here’s a few selects from a feature hunt I found one Saturday. Next time, I was told, I have to run dogs on a sled myself.

The Jailhouse

Yesterday I got to go through the old Natrona County Jail and Juvenile Detention Center in downtown Casper. The center, which has since closed because a new one was built, further fueled my obsession with old, abandoned decrepit things and reminded me that I’d never like to spend a night in jail.

Snow Birds

Just one that I liked while feature hunting one morning last week when it snowed. The pigeons were keeping warm on the chimney.

First Snow

…of much more to come.

Click-or-Treat

Didn’t have an assignment Saturday, so I went downtown where most Casper businesses opened their doors to trick-or-treaters for the afternoon. When I was back in Columbia, I covered an event similar to this, but there were a ton more kids here and the costumes were some of the best I’ve seen. For real.

Bowling with Craig

Earlier this week, I went on a feature hunt. The Special Olympics had a tournament in town, so I went to the bowling alley and met Craig and his mother, Bonnie. I spent a few hours hanging out and it was a joy to spend the afternoon with them.

Yellow & White

One that I liked from a story about a local watercolor artist. I just got lucky that she was wearing a yellow shirt and painting with yellow.

James: An MPW Outtake

I’ve been in Clinton, Mo., all week for the Missouri Photo Workshop. Describing it as intense would be an understatement, but it was an amazing experience and I met and photographed a very gracious family for four days. Whoa.

Here’s just an extra frame from the workshop. James decided to play under the blanket one afternoon after school. He got tired for a minute.

The Rig

First time I’ve ever seen a drilling rig in Wyoming with guys actually working.
