The Obama Kids

After the rally :: St. Louis, Mo.

I’ve been hanging out with a student group of Barack Obama supporters recently. I went with them to STL to see Obama at a rally there, and here’s one I thought was interesting anyway.

A lot of his supporters at that rally were young…it’s nice to see people my age and younger getting involved, after hearing over and over that our generation doesn’t care.

Well, we do.

It’s OK, I’m with the band.

So, I’ve been shooting the Lawrence High School marching band whenever I go back home. Last night was their last performance of the season, so I went with them and hung out.

They didn’t win the competition (they won last year) but at least the kids had fun. And they didn’t do too bad, placing fifth overall.

As one girl put it after the show, “I don’t care what the judges think. I felt good about that.”

Anyway, here’s some shots.

Eyes for Obama

Shot this while exploring for my single strobe assignment for one of my classes. I’m really trying to learn not just what the hand-held strobe does, but how it works. I guess shooting in manual is the only way to figure that all out.

Not sure if this works or not, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.

In a retro mood

I shot some more portraits for my friend, Jennifer, last night. This one seemed kinda retro to me. Maybe the color?
Either way, I can’t take all the credit, she’s a great model.

The more and more I do it, the more and more I’m a fan of the studio. That’s not all I want to do, but hey, it’s a nice change of pace sometimes.

More Xander

Here’s another from last Friday night. I had to put more Xander up…with a name that cool, how could I not?

Focus.
